Log Dovetail Jig Plans
Building a hand hewn cabin

Logs were first scored with a chainsaw, then rough hewn with an axe. In the photo below, I am using an adze to remove any saw marks.

I did use sawn timbers for the first course of logs. The adze was used to roughen the face.

A simple crane with a hand winch was used for lifting logs:

Laying out dovetails the old (slow) way!

A real crane was called in to lift the roof trusses.

The cabin dimensions are 28x32 (interior).
